3Novices:High sodium content found in popular luncheon meat, canned sausages, Hong Kong watchdog warns consumers

The Consumer Council warned Hongkongers on Thursday of high sodium levels found in the majority of the 33 luncheon meat and sausage samples it tested, with one luncheon meat sample even containing veterinary drug residues.
The watchdog’s tests also found the actual sodium content of a canned sausage sample was 560 times higher than its indicated amount.
These products are popular ingredients in dishes at local restaurants and cha chaan tengs, or tea houses, in the city.
