A Hong Kong police inspector jailed for two years for assaulting an activist during the Occupy protests in 2014 has been granted bail, becoming the fourth officer to be allowed to leave prison pending an appeal.
Wong Cho-shing, 50, was granted bail by the Court of Appeal on the basis that his sentence might be “manifestly excessive” – the same reason given to the three released late last month.
