3Novices:Legco finally backs Hong Kong government’s push for joint railway checkpoint with mainland

The Legislative Council on Wednesday finally gave its support to the Hong Kong government to start work on a controversial joint checkpoint for the cross-border railway to Guangzhou, after days of filibustering by opposition lawmakers.
They attempted to drag out the debate on the government’s non-binding motion again at Wednesday’s council meeting but Legco president Andrew Leung Kwan-yuen dismissed their tactics.
Eight amendments proposed by pan-democrat legislators were vetoed….
